Consorzio Vini Alto Adige

South Tyrol: A Small Territory with Great Wines

South Tyrol is one of the smallest wine-growing areas in Italy, but thanks to its geographical position it is also one of the most varied: 5,000 wine-growers share a vineyard area of just over 5,500 hectares, distributed in the most diverse climatic zones, on different soils and at altitudes ranging from 200 to over 1,000 metres above sea level. A terroir that is as diverse as ever ensures that many vines find ideal growing conditions. South Tyrol has a natural and thousand-year-old vocation to produce wines, just think that it is one of the oldest wine growing areas in Europe. The fact that the wines here are excellent and appreciated all over the world depends on certain values inherent in the DNA of this area. It is a cohesive community, made up of people who with passion and commitment grow in quality. Independent winemakers, cooperatives and estates, have been achieving great results for decades also thanks to the contribution, which has always been protected and safeguarded, coming from small family run structures. Together, but leaving their mark on each one, they pursue the declared objective of protecting nature, protecting traditions, safeguarding the land as a factor of identity and common heritage and looking to the future with a view to environmental sustainability for future generations. Since 2007 the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige has been the point of reference for all those involved in wine production in the area and represents the showcase for South Tyrolean wines at local, national and international level.
